Heart warming, fun, representative and Calamari!
August 19, 2020
I think we agree that the virtual roll call from all 50 states and seven territories was a night topper. We hope you enjoyed seeing new voices, as well as lots of familiar faces. We acknowledge that it also made us miss the freedom to be in those places, a lot.
Night 2 of our convention was both touching and a somber reminder of a time such as this. The crisis that is all around us and the leadership of Joe Biden that we officially nominated last night to lead our Democratic ticket, and with our hard work, our country.
Dr. Biden brought it home...to the heart of her home. "How do you make a broken family whole? The same way you make a nation whole. With love and understanding—and with small acts of compassion. With bravery. With unwavering faith.”
Watching her deliver her speech from the empty classroom where she once taught was another visual reminder of why we are in a virtual convention, inside of a pandemic, inside of a Democracy that’s teetering on the edge.
Our responsibility is great. I’m proud of how we have moved to meet the challenges ahead and the extraordinary coalition that is getting the job done. But we are in a time when there are forces that will poke and prod and attempt to dissect our unity. But our better angels are already at work.
Thank you Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez for your moving remarks and your clear endorsement of Vice President Biden. “I extend my deepest congratulations to @JoeBiden - let’s go win in November.”
Thank you Gen. Colin Powell for voicing your support at a Democratic convention, crossing the aisle once again. "Our country needs a commander in chief who takes care of our troops in the same way he would his own family. For Joe Biden, that doesn't need teaching. It comes from the experience he shares with millions of military families sending his beloved son off to war and praying to God he would come home safe.”
So friends, welcome to Day 3 of our unified Democratic convention. Where are my virtual happy hour invites?!
Yesterday’s series of caucus and council meetings were streamed on over 30 thousand unique devices.

Framing for the Day
A More Perfect Union- America is not going back to where it was before Donald Trump’s mismanagement of the pandemic and subsequent economic crisis, because for too many people, that wasn’t good enough. As he leads us out of crisis, Joe Biden will help build back better. He will have a historic partner in these efforts: the first female vice president. Today, you will hear from the Vice Presidential nominee and many others who are committed to working alongside Joe Biden to achieve his goals to form a more perfect union.
