Florida Democratic Party on Trump Campaign Continuing to Flout Safety Measures as Marc Lotter Speaks in Orange County
Tonight, on the day Florida surpassed 7,000 coronavirus deaths, Marc Lotter of the Trump campaign is speaking at the in-person Central Florida GOP Convention, where masks won’t be required for attendees. This has been the deadliest month of the pandemic in Florida and the state is still experiencing uncontrolled community spread, yet the Trump campaign continues to host events that flout CDC recommendations to protect the health of Floridians. Similarly, yesterday, Donald Trump was in Florida for a fundraiser and gathering where those in attendance were not required to wear masks or socially distance.
In response, Florida Democratic Party Chair Terrie Rizzo released the following statement:
“This is another example of why the coronavirus pandemic continues to rage in Florida and states across the country as countries around the world have flattened the curve -- Donald Trump continues to fail the American people every single day. This has been the deadliest week in Florida as the coronavirus continues to infect thousands of Floridians daily, and Trump still has no plan, no solution to get us out of this crisis. Enough with the Trump-first, Floridians-last mentality -- we need a leader who will get us out of this crisis, not make it worse, which is what Donald Trump and his campaign continue to do.”
