FDP Calls Out Rubio and Scott for Voting Against January 6th Commission

May 28, 2021

Miami, Fla— In response to Senator Marco Rubio and Senator Rick Scott voting against the bipartisan commission to investigate the January 6th insurrection at our Capitol, Florida Democratic Party Chair Manny Diaz released the following statement.

“Yet again, Marco Rubio and Rick Scott have refused to stand up for our democracy. By voting against the bipartisan commission to investigate the deadly insurrection at our Capitol they have shown that they are too weak to do what is right. The American people deserve to know what happened on January 6th, and who was responsible. But Rubio, Scott, and many of their Republican colleagues just want to cover it up, because a lack of accountability is better for their party’s electoral prospects and Donald Trump's ego. Our Florida Senators are loyal to Trump, over their duty to our country and the constitutional oath they swore to uphold. It is clear that when given the option, Marco Rubio and Rick Scott will choose party, and specifically the party of Donald Trump, over country every single time.”
