Dr. Bruce Nissen lives in St. Petersburg, and is a retired Labor Studies professor from Florida International University in Miami. He has published numerous books, journal articles, book chapters, and research reports, all based on involvement in or close consultation with community and labor organizations. He is still active in his union, the United Faculty of Florida. His local community activism has revolved around the group Awake Pinellas, the Bernie Sanders campaign, and recently the Pinellas Democratic Socialists of America. Proudest recent achievement: helping win the Defend our Democracy ordinance in St. Petersburg, which drove Super PACs and their dirty (dark) money out of city politics.
Pinellas County voted BLUE in 2018 -- sadly the state of Florida was less blue than we were. We need to start now to ensure that Pinellas is a SOLID BLUE vote in 2020. In the meantime, we have municipal elections in 2019. We will be helping our Democratic Candidates as always, and will continue to need your support to do so.
